Two Year Molars

All children must go through the teething process, though this doesn’t mean that it will be easy. Those two-year molars are the plight of nearly every mother on the planet for at least a few months.

Two-year molars are usually the last teeth to make their appearance inside of your child’s mouth. Since these teeth are sharp and pointed, they often scrape their way to the top of the mouth causing your child a significant amount of pain. During this time, there is really nothing you can do to ease the pain caused by these teeth, though you may want to try giving your child a teething ring to chew on.

By the time your child reaches three years of age, they will have approximately twenty teeth inside of their mouth. This means that up until this age those teeth will be the cause of many mood swings. If you notice that your child is really going through a lot of pain, you may want to consult your dentist – sometimes, unbearable pain can signal a problem within the mouth. However, you should take note that a slight amount of pain is entirely normal. Not sure if your child is teething yet? There are some tell-tale signs that will easily signal the beginning of the teething process.

Pay attention to loss of appetite, a substantial amount of fussiness, the need for your child to chew on everything in sight, and swollen gums. All of these things are sure signs that your child is going through the teething process. As this process continues, those two year molars will push their way to the surface. Even though these teeth are the last to grow, they happen to be the most painful (but don’t worry, it will all be over soon enough!).

Keep bringing your child to regular doctor visits in order to ensure that teeth are developing normally. Also, make sure to pay special attention to clean your child’s mouth during this time in order to avoid decay. Finally, try and feed your child as much as possible even though they may not be hungry – it is important that they receive their daily nutrients (you can also try some form of liquid that is packed with lots of vitamins and minerals).

While two year molars are just another part of life, they are often difficult for both child and parent. Parents are largely helpless when it comes to helping their child through this process, though it is one part of growing up that all people must go through – luckily, most people hardly ever remember the feeling of those new teeth.
